The Scottish Government has set up a Coronavirus (COVID 19) Advisory Sub-Group on Education and Children’s Issues to provide advice to support and inform the development of operational guidance for providers of learning, childcare and children’s services.

Chaired by Professor Carol Tannahill, Chief Social Policy Advisor to Scotland Government and an Honorary Professor in the Institute of Health and Wellbeing at the University of Glasgow, the group’s membership includes Professor Sheila Rowan who, as well as being Chief Scientific Advisor for Scotland is the University’s Chair of Natural Philosophy, and Professor Chris Chapman, Chair in Educational Policy and Practice and Director of Policy Scotland.

The sub-group will begin with a focussed remit, covering all issues affecting early learning centres and schools, and linked children’s services issues, but not higher and further education settings. The sub-group will give detailed consideration of how public health advice can be applied to operational implementation.
