On 17th May, the second annual TILE-TEC conference, jointly organised by the University of Glasgow and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, was well attended at our Glasgow College campus in Chengdu. With 4 main themes - Innovative Teaching Methods and Technologies; Student Engagement and Participation Strategies; Authentic Assessments and Feedback; Enterprise, Employability and Professional Development - a variety of oral presentations and interactive workshops allowed colleagues to share perspectives and gain fresh insights. The emergence and impact of AI was a common trend throughout.

Presenters came from Glasgow College, UESTC, Queen Mary University of London, and UESTC. Some presenters from University of Glasgow delivered sessions online. These were Dr Vicki Dale, Principal Academic and Digital Development Adviser; Dr Stuart Grey, a Senior Lecturer in Engineering Systems Design; and Professor Richard Page, an Honorary Lecturer at James Watt School of Engineering and a member of the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program. The conference was coordinated by Dr. Wasim Ahmed with support from the TNE administration team.

Afterwards, those who attended came together in a less formal setting to enjoy a beautiful al fresco evening meal at the Crowne Plaza hotel, complete with live musical entertainment. Much to everybody's delight, some academic staff from Glasgow College, UESTC even performed. Music included Chinese, Western, and Persian popular songs, enhancing the international flavour and deepening a shared appreciation of one another's cultures.
