The 2022 Opening Ceremony for our new cohort of Glasgow College, UESTC & Glasgow College Hainan, UESTC students was held on the morning of 28th August in UESTC Hall, Qingshuihe Campus. 

Gao Shiquan, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of UESTC, Zeng Qigang, Deputy Director, Di Aiying, Secretary of the General Party Branch of Glasgow College, Zeng Bing, Dean of Glasgow College UESTC, Yang Shiwen, Chairman of the Academic Committee of the College, Xu Shizhong, Director of the Communication Engineering Professional Project, representatives of the academic tutors of the class, representatives of the faculty of the College, and all new 2022 students attended the ceremony.

A historic first for those joining the new Glasgow College Hainan, UESTC, the event opened with some traditional Scottish Highland Dancing in honor of our award-winning China-Scotland educational partnership and its continued success. Dean Zeng Bing noted in his speech that this year the school welcomed its 10th class of students to Glasgow College, UESTC. Quite an achievement!

Collage of images from the opening ceremonyUoG Deputy Vice-Chancellor Rachel Sandison, and Dean of Glasgow College, UESTC, Professor Zeng Bing, gave encouraging speeches to formally welcome the new students and to motivate them to kickstart an inspiring university life. All those who spoke described an international vision of hard work and discovery, building on the rich scientific research experience of College staff. In one particularly touching section of the ceremony, students sealed letters detailing their hopes for the future into envelopes, only to be opened in 4 years time when they graduate. The event ended with everyone singing My Motherland and Me.
