Dr Ian Watson, Reader and Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering has accepted an invitation to join the Scientific Advisory Board of IBioIC.

Dr Watson is a leading expert in the potential of microalgae for biofuel and high value products. This includes each stage of the process from optimising growth, dewatering and product extraction to genetically engineering pathways to improve product yield and development of commercialisation strategies.

He has published widely on the direct effect of a range of lasers and their efficacy on treating different substrates, including solids, liquids and air and a range of microorganisms from E.coli to B. globigii, an anthrax simulant.

The Synthetic Biology and Industrial Biotech group are delighted Dr Watsons expertise has been recognised.
