Introduction to cluster analysis in R

Introduction to cluster analysis in R
Pre-requisites: Basic R programming skills, understanding of basic statistics (e.g. means, standard deviations, regression)
Description: This training course will introduce you to the basics idea of clustering and 2 of the more popular clustering methods

- introduction to similarity and clustering
- concept of tree structures and dendrograms
- hierarchical clustering and its implementation in R
- k-means and its implementation in R
- how to do comparison of cluster structures

Introduction to Stata

Pre-requisites: Access to Stata
Description: This training course will walk you through the basics of Stata including:
- opening up dataset
- creating do-files
- how to read help file files and use drop down menus to learn code
- data set cleaning and coding
- basics of coding structure
- basics of graphics and graphics editing
This course will not be aimed at teaching statistics or how to interpret the output from Stata.

GLM - General Linear Models - a brief applied introduction and refresher

Pre-requisites: Attendees should have an intermediate knowledge of “regression analysis” using OLS (Ordinary Least Squares) and benefit most if they have used R/RStudio before.
Description:
Whether working with data from experiments or surveys, from fit bits or web scrapping, “Generalised Linear Models” (GLMs) offer a flexible way to estimate effects, relationships, or models representing a theory.
This session looks at GLMs to analyse binary and categorical independent variables.
It covers the application in R, the interpretation of results, and a gentle introduction/refresher of the underlying theory.

An introduction to Data Visualisation using R
Pre-requisites: For the session, we will use the statistical computing environment R and user interface RStudio. Participants should install both software’s before the session. The software and download instructions can be found at:

Description In this short course, we will introduce elementary graphical methods used for data visualisation.
We will focus on tools within R which allow users to create powerful graphics to aid exploration of datasets.
The course will also provide tools for efficient data management in R. We will cover a variety of example datasets and data structures, including spatial data.
