Congratulations to our International Master’s degree in Central and East European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (IMCEERES) which has received renewed funding of 4.35 million euros from the European Commission to fund four student cohorts over five years. This bid was authored by programme director, Dr Ammon Cheskin, and supported by programme administrator, Clair Clarke.

It follows successful funding bids in 2012 and 2017, authored by Professor Clare McManus and Dr Luca Anceschi respectively. This means a total of 12 student cohorts will have been funded for the two-year programme, securing funding of almost 15 million euros.

The new IMCEERES consortium covers nine main partner universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, UK and Ukraine.

On receiving the good news Ammon said, 'I’m obviously delighted with the news of our renewed Erasmus Mundus funding. It’s testament to the hard work by many people in CEES and in the international office, as well as by our eight international partner universities. It’s also great news for the students and staff of our consortium who will continue to build upon international partnerships and friendships despite the best efforts of Brexit and Covid-19. Thankfully, providing rich educational experiences and sampling the delights of Georgian wine are not mutually exclusive – so we will be sure to celebrate.'
