Andy Hom joins Glasgow Politics as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Andy earned his PhD in International Politics at Aberystwyth University, Wales, in November 2013 after completing an MA at the University of Kansas. His thesis developed a theoretical framework of timing and time applied to IR and international politics. Additionally, he is interested in the practical and ethical issues of war and security, disciplinary conduct and history, and philosophy of social science.

Prior to arriving at Glasgow, Andy has been a lecturer at Vanderbilt University and a teaching fellow at the University of St Andrews. He now looks forward to researching and administering for the Moral Victories project, concerned with questions of ethics, exit strategies, and the endings of wars.

Andy’s previous work can be found in the journals, Review of International Studies, International Studies Review, and Military Review, as well as an edited volume, Time, Temporality, and Violence in IR, in Routledge’s Interventions series. He’s an avid ice hockey (Go Habs Go) and college basketball (Rock Chalk) fan.
