The School welcomes , University Teacher in Public Policy from August 2013

"I have worked in higher education for 14 years, firstly as a teaching fellow in health and nursing at the University of Abertay, Dundee and as a tutor in sociology at the University of Glasgow and Glasgow Caledonian University. Since 2008 I have been an Associate Lecturer with the Open University in Scotland teaching on the policy course- Welfare, crime and society.

I graduated with a B.Sc (hons) Behavioural Sciences from the University of Abertay, Dundee in 1997, then an M.Phil. from The University of Glasgow in 1999 where I specialised in urban sociology. I was awarded a Ph.D. in Urban Studies from the University of Glasgow in 2006.

I have academic interests in the broad areas of urban regeneration, housing policy, the historical evolution and residualisation of social housing. I am particularly interested in the dynamics and effects of neighbourhood stigmatisation and representations of social inequality in popular and political discourse. My doctoral thesis Neighbourhood Stigma and Social Exclusion investigated the varied experiences of stigmatisation in the context of Scottish, urban housing estates and examined the role of area based regeneration approaches in addressing the issue of poor neighbourhood image and reputation."
