Undergraduate Study

Whichever undergraduate programme you choose, you will gain expertise in logical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving — skills that will equip you for success in any career you choose.

With an undergraduate degree in mathematics or statistics, you can pursue a diverse range of careers, from business analyst and data scientist to financial analyst and game designer. Your expertise can lead you to roles in various fields, including finance, technology, healthcare, and education.

Your study pathway

Our study pathways give you flexibility to explore different disciplines while building a solid foundation in mathematics and/or statistics.

If you choose to study mathematics or statistics, you will divide your time between these subjects and others during the first two years of your undergraduate degree. In first year, you'll spend half of your time on either mathematics or statistics, with the other half focused on two additional subjects of your choice. By second year, you'll dedicate around two-thirds of your time to mathematics or statistics, with the remaining third still spent on other subjects.

If you opt for a joint degree in mathematics and statistics, you'll split your focus evenly between both subjects, making them the majority of your course load while still engaging with other areas during the first two years.

The University also offers a range of joint programmes that allow you to combine mathematics or statistics with other disciplines, such as finance, accounting, economics, and more. In these joint programmes, your time will be similarly allocated, typically allowing you to concentrate on both areas without sacrificing the opportunity to explore additional subjects.

This flexible structure enables you to develop a diverse skill set tailored to your career aspirations.
