Alan Watson, a leading scholar of Roman law and professor in this University from 1965 to 1969, passed away on 7 November 2018.
We're very sad to learn that Alan Watson passed away on 7 November. He was a graduate of this University, taking an MA in 1954 and LLB in 1957. He also held the Douglas Chair of Civil Law in this University from 1965 to 1969, and thereafter held many chairs in the United Kingdom and the United States. His contributions to Roman law, comparative law, and the early history of Christianity were immense.
