Dr Ben White won the Syrian Studies Association prize for best article or book chapter published on Syria in 2016/17, for his article on ‘Refugees and the definition of Syria’.
The prize is awarded for the best writing on Bilad al-Sham until 1918 and on Syria in the period following. It is multidisciplinary and covers any period from the Islamic conquest to the present.
