Stallings will deliver the fifth triennial lecture in honour of Prof. Gilbert Murray, who was Professor of Greek at the University of Glasgow from 1889 to 1899. The talk, the title of which is drawn from Chapman’s translation of Iliad 19.302, will be an exploration of the interweaving of migration, war, translation, and the Eastern Aegean, through poetry from Homer to the present.
