Congratulations to SPHSU public engagement award winners:

  • Christina Buckton won an MVLS Engagement award for the Health in the news: fact or fiction? event, organised for last year's MRC Festival of Medical Research.
  • Well done to PhD student Rebecca Phipps, who won the IHW Jean Thomson prize for "significant contribution to knowledge exchange and public engagement". Rebecca has established excellent networks and collaborations outside academia while conducting her research into fathers' experiences of adjusting to life following partner bereavement.
  • Julie Riddell won the inaugural SPHSU Public Engagement Award for developing successful public engagement activities, volunteering at events and being an active member of the Unit’s Public Engagement & Communications Group. 

Congratulations also to Professor Rory O'Connor who has been appointed Co-Chair of the Academic Advisory Group to the Scottish Government’s National Suicide Prevention Leadership Group.
