Join our local u3a Knitting Group and our SHW resident knitter Lorraine Waddell in a session to get knitting or crocheting. This is for our Christmas Tree Project. Details on the Christmas Tree Project below.

Knitting equipment will be provided, but you're welcome to bring your own.

Many of you who use the Clarice Pears building will know Lorraine in Café Omni who is a key part of Byres Hub but we have another wonderful Lorraine in the School who is an administrator in Public Health and she also runs the BSL cafés and is a beautiful knitter.  Lorraine Waddell has started a knitted Christmas Tree Project and has put out a call for beginners to experienced crafters to help create lovely, personalised, and unique individual squares, either knitted or crocheted that will be then stitched together to make a community Christmas Tree. We have now met with Boomerang woodworking to design the frame and Freya at Boomerang has made us a prototype which Lorraine has dressed so you can get a better idea of what the final structure will look like.

We are looking for squares 12cm x 12cm. Knitted or Crochet.

Materials: Any type of wool, as long as the square matches the size. Squares can be any colours, decorated, with beads, sequence etc making it unique to you or your organisation. You can drop any squares at reception and please do leave your name and email address or telephone number. Please share with any knitters or knitting groups you know.
