As was recently shared on popular social media platform 'WeChat' by collegues in Chengdu, the Glasgow College, UESTC office building and laboratories now have a new home in 'Building No. 6' of the already impressive UESTC campus. The building boasts a number of attractive, multi-functional spaces for study, discussion and lab work, as can be seen in the pictures below. Staff and students can now enjoy the most modern and well designed of rooms for their various activities; whether separately or together.

Spaces include student study areas, 'smart classrooms', meeting rooms, a hall for student presentations, laboratories for computing, power electronics and microelectronics (to name just a few) - and plenty of room for the requisite servers and storage. Semi open-plan work spaces allow support staff to their jobs in rooms which are full of natural light and greenery - including at the always busy 'Student Affairs Centre'. Informal rooms combine modern, comfortable and modular furniture, with bookcases, computing facilities, and reception facilities. There is even a piano for those who are musically inclined!

To find Building No. 6, directions are as follows:

From the pedestrian bridge west of the main building, cross Metasequoia Road, walk along the road between the International Innovation Center (under construction) and the No. 6 Research Building, and you will come to our new home for Glasgow College, UESTC. Building 6 is located on the west side of the main building, accessed from the driving avenue, through the open view, and the right-hand entrance is flanked by two new buildings. When you step into the new Glasgow College, you will stop here:

As is shown in the picture above, a "casual wooden style" adds a welcoming and perhaps contrasting note to the "rigorous science and working environment" that is the heart of Glasgow College, UESTC.

As teaching and managerial staff normally based at our Glasgow University campus begin to travel regularly again to Chengdu, they will surely enjoy taking a tour of these tasteful, utilitarian new spaces.
