Philip Tonner and Karin Bowie organise a conference about History Education. On 11 September 2021, the University of Glasgow will team up with the SQA and SATH to provide a free Higher History research conference on Zoom for secondary-school teachers. Leading scholars will provide talks on the latest research on SQA-examined topics in Scottish, British and European/World History, followed by Q&A. Participants can choose from six different sessions. Whether your staff have taught a topic for years or are considering offering a topic new to your school, these sessions will provide fresh insights and angles. Places can be reserved by registering via Eventbrite:

At the conference, they will share details on future CPD activity for teachers, including a workshop on the Atlantic Slave Trade, podcasts on USA 1918-1968 and a website for teachers on the Treaty of Union. In the meantime, open-access research by Glasgow scholars on a range of SQA and BGE historical topics can be found at www.gla.ac.uk/historyinschools/. This includes research articles, teaching resources and primary sources. For further details, contact Karin Bowie (karin.bowie@glasgow.ac.uk) and Philip Tonner (philip.tonner@glasgow.ac.uk).
