School of Education Research Ethics
The University of Glasgow requires that all research involving human data or material is subject to formal ethical review.
Before undertaking research as a member of the University of Glasgow, all staff and students must determine if their research requires ethical approval and follow the process for obtaining this where required.
Ethics applications are submitted for review online via the University Research Ethics System.

How to obtain ethical approval
Applications for ethical approval should be submitted to the relevant ethics committee via the online system:
- Staff and Postgraduate Researchers (PGRs) - College of Social Sciences Ethics Committee
- Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught (PGT) students - School of Education Ethics Commitee
Staff and PGRs should consult the College of Social Sciences Ethics site for guidance on application requirements and how to apply.
UG and PGT students are automatically enrolled on the School of Education Ethics Moodle site which provides detailed information on the application process. Students should refer to this information and discuss with their supervisor to determine if their project will require ethical approval, and which type of application is required.
Supervisors of UG and PGT students should also consult the Moodle site for guidance. If an enrolment key is required, please contact the School Ethics Administrator (education-ethics@glasgow.ac.uk) who can provide this.
