This session offered two think pieces from colleagues that allowed us to reflect on the process of partnership building with an emphasis on reciprocity and sustainability. Recordings of the think pieces have been shared via the School of Education teams site using the internationalisation channel for weblinks, articles and ideas.

Mia Perry will draw on work from her current project – Participatory Futures which is focused on research on “partnerships” and SDG 17. The work is based on the contention that without genuine and equitable partnerships at the foundations of our practice, the potential impact, relevance, and sustainability of the research and teacher will forever be limited or negated.

Mia also shared the Critical Resource for Ethical International Partnerships that she developed and published last year with the Sustainable Futures network.

Giovanna Fassetta spoke about the sustainable partnership she developed with Dr Nazmi Al-Masri (Islamic University of Gaza) that resulted in the ‘Online Arabic from Palestine’ course.
