SCMH Running Club

THE SCMH Running Club holds regular runs of 5–8km (at a social pace) usually on Wednesdays or Thursdays @ 5.30pm. Regular attendees are spread across all the SCMH sites and run times are flexible depending on the attendees and their schedule. The more people attend, the more they can run. Anyone is welcome and no one will be left behind! There is a Teams Page here: SCMH Running Club Team page and anyone who would like further details can contact Cara Trivett at c.trivett.1@research.gla.ac.uk

EDI Celebration Ceilidh - POSTPONED

The rescheduled EDI Celebration Ceilidh will be held on Friday 1st November 2024 in the Debates Chamber of the GUU from 7pm – 1am.  Tickets will be £15 per person which includes a hot meal (served at 7:30pm).  And we’re excited to have music and dancing from “The Midgierakers” (I’m sure you will recognise a few of the band members!).  Ticket prices have been subsidised through generous support from both the MVLS EDI committee and a contribution from SCMH funds and we thank them for this funding.  You are more than welcome to bring along a partner or friend and can purchase up to 2 tickets per person.  We will send information about how to buy a ticket in the next few weeks but we wanted to give everyone advance notice of this celebratory social event to ensure as many of our colleagues will be able to make it along.

LGBTQ+ Drag Queen Bingo

Following the success of our LGBTQ+ coffee catch up in July we are excited to announce our next event will be a Drag Queen Bingo taking place on the 18th of November.  This will coincide with LGBTQ+ People in STEM Day. This event is possible thanks to Sara Baumert, Alexandra Riddell and Caitlin Cosgrove securing funds from the Ferguson Bequest and the MVLS EDI committee to host some LGBTQ+ social events for our staff and students.  Preparations have begun, but please do not hesitate to get in touch with Sara, Alexandra, or Caitlin if you would like to be involved in the planning process.

Athena swan Coffee Catch up

TBC in Wolfson Link Courtyard

In response to the recent culture survey and as a means of reconnecting again and connecting with new colleagues who have recently joined the SCMH, we are going to be holding a couple of coffee catch-up events throughout the year.

All staff and students are invited and encouraged to attend for a blether and a catch-up over tea/coffee (biscuits will also be provided!).  This is an informal gathering where we just want to give people an opportunity to meet in person and see both familiar and new faces.

We hope to see you there!
