Lessons for leaders today from Adam Smith

Thursday 27 April 2023, 4.30pm-6.00pm
Online - Zoom
With Hon.Prof Steve Mostyn and Dr Tanya Wilson

Welcome to a fascinating Adam Smith Leadership Forum which takes place during the tercentenary of Adam Smith on the implications of his ideas to current leadership practice.

We are delighted that Dr Tanya Wilson, a leading economist at the University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School, will lead the initial provocation using her insights that help make Adam Smith’s The Theory of Moral Sentiments relevant today.

The Theory Of Moral Sentiments (1759) was a real scientific breakthrough. It shows that our moral ideas and actions are a product of our very nature as social creatures. It argues that this social psychology is a better guide to moral action than is reason.

This session will help you explore our contemporary focus on organisation purpose, business model innovation and talent motivation with senior leaders in private and public value organisations to explore insights from 1759.

The discussion will be convened by Steve Mostyn, Honorary Professor at the Adam Smith Business School.
