Pelumi Odubanjo is a curator, researcher, and writer based in London and Glasgow who works with contemporary art and photo archives to create and explore dialogues across global black and African diasporas.

Pelumi’s research explores the role of vernacular photographs within women’s collective social histories, focusing on West African geographies from the 1980s to today. Using Black feminist and anticolonial methodologies of research, including speculative study, collective study, and experimental forms of narration, the research makes visible the possibilities of alternative archival forms activated through social practice and artistic practice, questioning the role of and relationship between images and photographs within black African diasporas.
