Rosie's research considers how different spaces on the left throughout the 1970s and 1980s, such as radical bookshops, women’s centres and other types of spaces, facilitated relationships of solidarity between different and diverse political groups. She interrogates this by focusing on both the material nature of these spaces, and in terms of the encounters that took place within them, focussing particularly on the gendered and racialised nature of their spatial politics. Drawing on oral history testimony and archival methods, she also assesses the emotional infrastructures of each space, in terms of how these sites were formed and sustained around certain emotions.
