Leonie Lepple, a student at the School of Interdisciplinary Studies, has been awarded a prestigious prize for her outstanding contribution to life at the Crichton Campus in Dumfries.

The Crichton Foundation awards the Sir David Landale Prize annually following a bequest from the late Sir David, who was founding convenor of the Foundation.

Leonie, who is studying Environmental Science & Sustainability, was chosen because of the many initiatives she is involved in and her enthusiasm and dedication as a student ambassador.

Originally from Germany, Leonie trained as a nurse before going travelling and changing her career path. Alongside her studies, she is a contributor to the University’s Ask a Student website, she regularly meets and greets prospect students attending interviews and open days and she recently won the My Story competition for international students at the University.

A very worthy winner

Carlo Rinaldi, one of Leonie's nominators, described her as “showing enthusiasm in everything she does,” and said, “she is a credit to herself and the School. We’re very proud of Leonie. She’s a very worthy winner of the Prize.”

The prize was awarded at the inaugural Crichton Foundation lunch where the Head of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies, Professor Carol Hill, hosted alumni of the School.
