Be Inspired: Stories from Trailblazing Women Entrepreneurs

14 June, 14:00-17:00 @ The Advanced Research Centre, University of Glasgow

The University of Glasgow is delighted to be celebrating women academic entrepreneurs and innovators and is hosting an event aimed at empowering women to develop their innovative translational research.

There is a gender imbalance in innovation with far fewer women engaging in commercialisation of their research and founding companies.

Join us for an afternoon hearing about the experiences of researchers who started companies based on their own academic research. An opportunity to understand their motivations for setting up a company, the practical steps involved, the highs and the lows, and what advice they have for other women.

Beginning with a conversation with Dame Katherine Grainger DBE, Britain's most decorated female Olympian, Chair of UK Sport and Chancellor of the University of Glasgow. The speaker session will followed by drinks and canapes to bring together researchers and women from start-up companies and venture capitalists along with organisations who support new businesses – to encourage discussion and inspire ambition in a supportive environment.

Confirmed speakers:

We encourage attendance by University of Glasgow women researchers including academics, ECRs, post-docs and PhD students who would like to learn more about this avenue for their research. No prior knowledge or experience in this area is required.

Spaces are limited. Secure your place and to find out more about the event via Eventbrite
