Professor Neal Juster, Senior Vice-Principal and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, will be leaving the University to take up the position of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lincoln.

It is a fantastic opportunity for Neal and is thoroughly well-deserved, but it is sad to say goodbye to such a highly valued and respected colleague who has contributed an immense amount to the University.

Neal has taken responsibility for the development and implementation of our ambitious strategic plans. His leadership of our ambitious Campus Development Programme; World Changing Glasgow Transformation project; annual budgetary cycle and processes to develop academic careers has been exemplary and the University would simply not have been able to achieve what it has over recent years without his contribution.

Neal joined the University of Glasgow in 2007 as Vice-Principal (Strategy and Resources) and was appointed to the position of Senior Vice-Principal and Deputy Vice-Chancellor in 2013. He was successfully re-appointed for a further term in 2019. He has led the University’s strategic planning process through the development of three strategic plans: 2010-15 (Glasgow 2020: a Global Vision), 2015-20 (Inspiring People Changing the World) and culminating in the recently published World Changers Together.

Professor Juster said: “I have been privileged to work with fantastic colleagues at Glasgow over the past 14 years. Together we have achieved great things, improving the University’s global reach, reputation and overall size. We have also initiated a number of long term projects related to strategy, the estate and transforming the staff and student experience. I am delighted and honoured to be selected as the custodian of Lincoln for the next few years, and the excitement of taking on this new challenge is tempered only by not being able to help colleagues complete these projects. My thoughts will be with you, and I wish you every success.”

Neal will take up his new position on 1 October and I am sure you’ll all join me in wishing him the very best for the future.
