Every Christmas we support students who are staying with us, away from their families. Although this Christmas is a bit different, it’s no exception, and the University is putting together a package of support those who will be with us over the holidays.

Although most students can travel home safely, after having been offered a Covid-19 test, we are expecting a considerable number of students to either arrive or remain in Glasgow.

Call for volunteers

To make sure that we’re supporting all students, we are putting a call for volunteers out to staff who are able to spare some time over the Christmas period to help put events on for students.

We currently have events planned such as quizzes and giving out shortbread and mince pies, and may need extra hands at our various halls of residence in order to do this – if you are interested in helping out with this, and some of our other planned events please let us know.

Similarly, we are also looking for volunteers to help deliver telephone welfare calls, in particular for our arriving cohort who are coming to Glasgow over the Christmas period and are having to self-isolate for 2 weeks prior to their courses starting in January. If you are able to help with this effort please also let us know.
