On Saturday 15 July 2023 university staff and students joined thousands of people celebrating Pride in Glasgow. The LGBTQ+ Staff Network, GULGBTQ+ student society and SRC marched together as one group representing the University of Glasgow. Glasgow Pride organisers said this year’s pride event in Glasgow was the largest ever with almost 50,000 attendees.

Eleanor Capaldi, LGBTQ+ Network Co-Chair said: "When LGBTQ+ rights are being challenged globally, to be able to safely march in Glasgow is a privilege we cannot take for granted. The people of the city turned out, and it was an honour to be able to represent the University of Glasgow alongside them."

Carlo van den Heuvel, LGBTQ+ Staff Network Co-Chair, adds: "While pride is a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, pride at its core is still a protest. With the alarming global rise of anti-LGBTQ+ hate and extremism it was now even more important than ever to be out and visible."

The LGBTQ+ Staff Network organises different events throughout the year and is open to all University of Glasgow staff and postgraduate research students who identify as LGBTQ+.
