Short Description

Timetable

Requirements of Entry

Mandatory Entry Requirements

Selection for this year will be on the basis of a successful application and interview in third year involving the prospective employer and will be conditional on students achieving a minimum GPA of 15 (B3) in third year.

Assessment

Assessment

Normally based on a written report and presentation by the student on projects completed throughout the work placement year. Assessment contributes 20% to the final degree mark.  The line manager in employment will also produce a final report which will help to inform the final mark.

Reassessment

In accordance with the University's Code of Assessment reassessments are normally set for all courses which do not contribute to the honours classifications. For non honours courses, students are offered reassessment in all or any of the components of assessment if the satisfactory (threshold) grade for the overall course is not achieved at the first attempt. This is normally grade D3 for undergraduate students, and grade C3 for postgraduate students. Exceptionally it may not be possible to offer reassessment of some coursework items, in which case the mark achieved at the first attempt will be counted towards the final course grade. Any such exceptions are listed below in this box.

If a student completes the work placement year satisfactorily in the view of the employer but does not obtain the minimum D3 for the report, the student may be allowed the opportunity to re-submit the report on the recommendation of the head of school.
