Short Description

To introduce students to core material in the area of biological and cognitive broadly defined, including an introduction to research methods in Psychology.

Timetable

One-hour lectures weekly on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the semester.

Entry to the class is offered to students who are visiting from overseas universities.

Course Aims

The aim of this course is to introduce students to core material in the areas of psychology broadly defined, including an introduction to research methods in Psychology.


The course is intended for students who are visiting from overseas universities. It can serve as an introduction to the field for students taking the course as part of their psychology degree at their home university, or as an outside subject in another degree programme.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

Students at the end of this course will be equipped with skills and knowledge to:

■ Describe, explain, and evaluate a broad range of theories and research findings in Psychology which will introduce students to Biological Psychology; Perception and Visual Cognition; Human Memory; and, Language.

■ Discuss and evaluate the methodological bases for psychological research.

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit the course's summative assessment.
