Course Aims

The aims of this course are to provide an opportunity for supervised study of manuscripts in the Hunterian collection in the University Library and to develop a detailed understanding of the ways in which manuscripts are used in the establishment of a classical text

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

On completion of the course students should have:
a detailed knowledge of the holdings of Latin manuscripts in the Hunterian collection
an understanding of the physical details of manuscripts and their preparation
an appreciation of the role of manuscripts in the establishment of classical texts
experience in collating manuscripts and assessing their value as evidence
