Course Aims

his course aims to:

■ Provide students with an opportunity to conceive develop and execute a piece of independent research in the field of museum studies.

■ Provide a research focus for students to test ideas and arguments of the academic and professional communities and develop their own arguments and insights.

■ Provide students with a chance to put their project into the wider context of their professional field

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the completion of the dissertation students will be able to demonstrate that they can:

■ Successfully identify and summarise existing scholarship relating to their chosen topic

■ Appropriately situate their research in wider context of Museum Studies

■ Research, compile and critically analyse relevant evidence

■ Demonstrate relevant, detailed and informed knowledge of the chosen topic

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
