Course Aims

To provide intensive training through lectures and seminars on a general topic in Economic and Social History related to the project group in Research Methods in Economic and Social History A and B.

To develop transferable and other skills associated with the University's Employability strategy.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

Upon completion of this course students will be able to:

■ show ability to read and analyse a moderate number of historical texts, both primary and secondary

■ demonstrate some awareness of continuity and change in a specific historical area

■ illustrate an historiographical controversy and evaluate historical argumentation
