Short Description

This course enables students to become familiar with, and understand, a range of social and political theories and concepts relating to social justice and contemporary issues.

5 Weekly sessions from 10am to 3pm

Requirements of Entry

Completion of the level 2 of the BA Community Development, or equivalent.

Assessment

The students will:

1 Work in groups to design, and deliver a debate on a contemporary issue relating to social justice (40%)

2 An essay on a social justice issue (60%)

Course Aims

This course enables students to become familiar with, and understand, a range of social and political theories and concepts relating to social justice and contemporary issues. 

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

Students will be able to:
1 Critically analyse  a range of social and political theories and concepts that relate to social justice

2 Evaluate their own practice in relation to theories of social justice, and social change.

3 Identify appropriate strategies to instil social justice in their practice and to effect social change

4 Present work in accordance with academic conventions
