Short Description

This course develops essential knowledge, understanding and skills in Graphics with a particular focus on 3D modelling and computer-aided draughting.

Assessment

Students will develop 2 projects that assesses the application of 3D modelling in response to a brief. These 2 projects will comprise CA1 (50%) and CA2 (50%) of the summative course assessment method

Course Aims

This course will develop students' understanding and application of core theories, principles and concepts relating to 3D modelling and computer-aided draughting. 

 

This course enables students to have the knowledge to meet the GTCS Standard for Provisional Registration as follows:

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

 

■ Demonstrate understanding of core theories, principles and concepts relating to 3D modelling and computer aided draughting.

■ Demonstrate understanding of a range of modelling operations and how they can be applied to generate models in response to a brief.

■ Develop a 3D modelling plan in response to a brief.

■ Understand and apply strategic modelling to justify approaches to modelling components, parts and assemblies.

■ Generate a multipart model is response to a brief and render it for presentation.

■ Apply British Standards and recognised conventions to graphic products.

■ Demonstrate written communication that is accurate and reliable with respect to 3D modelling.

■ Reflect on the processes of 3D modelling with reference to the core theories, principles and concepts.

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must have an 80% attendance or better at all timetabled classes. Students must achieve at least a D3 grade. Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
