Will be delivered through 2 input days plus 1 self-study day during Summer however self-study booklet and tasks will be available on Moodle from January for students to engage with.

Assessment
This course will be assessed in two parts.
Students will present a comparison of two different Childhood Practice systems, highlighting positive and negative aspects of each. (equivalent 1000 word) 40 %
Students will complete an assignment that examines Childhood Practice systems in two different countries, considering the national frameworks and support for provision. Students must also consider the wider issues that affect provision, such as the local culture, economic conditions, and underlying philosophies. (1,500 words +/-10%) 60%
Course Aims
The course aims to enable students to:
compare and contrast non-compulsory services for children aged 0-16 that support children and families in two countries
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
consider a number of comparisons on growing up in two different contemporary societies around the world
demonstrate knowledge of two national frameworks with respect to local cultures, economic conditions, and underlying philosophies
present a comparison of a child's route through two Childhood Practice systems
draw comparisons that highlight potential positive and negative aspects of children's experiences in each system
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
100% attendance of 2 formal contact days.
Participation in formative assessment task.
Submission of both the summative and formative assessment tasks.
