This course will provide students with the necessary skills, knowledge and experience required for both academic study in higher education and professional Community Development practice in the field .

1. Undertake a personal needs assessment and produce a 1000-word academic learning plan (50%)

2. 5 min Individual oral presentation

Course Aims

This course will enable the students to understand the requirements for professional practice in the field of Community Development and understand foundational theories and skills, as well as knowledge of various academic conventions required for the successful completion of study within higher education

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

1 - Understand the importance of presenting themselves in a professional manner whilst working in the community

2 - Applying the requirements for professional practice

3 - Understand academic conventions e.g. referencing, spelling, grammar, punctuation

4 - Present work according to academic conventions
