MVLS Futures Fellowships
Since 2021, our journey has been one of transformation. We have worked together to reimagine our culture through our College strategies.
Building on this foundation and with significant investment in infrastructure, innovation and people, our 2033 strategic vision will build a College that is vibrant and impactful, through which our inventions, interventions and innovations will shape social, cultural and economic prosperity. To drive our vision forward, we’re looking to recruit 10 Futures Fellows who will be hosted within our Schools and woven into the fabric of our four College Futures.

Who can apply for the fellowship?
At the point of application, Fellows must have:
- A PhD and at least 3-years postdoctoral research experience.
- An emerging track record of high quality research publications.
- Research interests that align with at least one of our College Futures.

Information for applicants
5-year fixed-term contract of employment.
Appointments will normally be made on a grade 8 academic scale (£48,350 - £56,021), relevant to experience, and in exceptional cases a more senior appointment may be made at grade 9 (£57,696 - £64,914). It is anticipated that Fellows who continue to demonstrate strategic-fit and complete a successful review at the end of year 5 will transition to an open-ended post.

The application and assessment process
The selection process will be assessed across three stages as identified below:
Stage 1 – Online application
17 June – 25 August:
Online portal is open for applications.
Mid-September:
Candidates will be notified of outcome.
Stage 2 – Research presentation and proposal
16 September – 19 November:
Candidates will be invited to liaise with colleagues within the host School to develop a research proposal and present to their School community.
Mid-December:
Candidates will be notified of outcome.
Stage 3 - College interview panel
6 January – 12 February:
Successful candidates will be invited to an interview.
Mid-February:
Candidates will be notified of the outcome.
Successful candidates will commence in May 2025.

How do I apply?
Applicants must complete the online application form and submit a 2-page CV via the UofG Jobs website. The deadline for submitting an application is Sunday 25 August 2024 (23:59 BST).

How will I be supported during the fellowship?
You will undertake the duties set out in the Futures Fellows Job Description.
Over the five years of the Fellowship, the level of responsibility and independence will increase developing a balanced portfolio of research and teaching.
You’ll participate in training and development workshops to support your career development and be provided with feedback on your performance to assist and improve your effectiveness.
How many Fellows will be recruited?
During this round (2024), we are looking to recruit 10 Futures Fellows.
Will there be future rounds of Fellows recruitment?
Applications for the Futures Fellows are invited annually. We will update the webpages when we have details of the next round.
Will I have the opportunity to develop as a teacher?
You will have a reduced teaching load during the initial period of the Fellowship and during Year 2 you will be enrolled to commence PgCAP. The following workload adjustments will be applied:
PGCAP Year 1 – 50% reduction of teaching workload
PGCAP Year 2 – 25% reduction of teaching workload
