The University of Glasgow has three finalists in the Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards 2022.

The awards celebrate and recognise the exceptional impact achieved through academic and business partnerships. 

The award winners will be announced on Thursday 17 March 2022 during an online ceremony.

Professor Murray Pittock, Pro-Vice Principal is a finalist for ‘Knowledge Exchange Champion’ for his work shaping national and local government policy on literary tourism and improving the way heritage and tourism sectors develop visitor experiences.

His work on the economic impact of the poet Robert Burns secured two Scottish Parliament debates and persuaded the Scottish Government to commission his research report on the subject.

The other UofG shortlist projects -

  • The MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research and medical research charity LifeArc, have been shortlisted for the ‘Covid-19 Collaborative Response’ category for creating a translational centre for antiviral drug screening and resistance. The CRUSH (COVID-19 Resistance and Drug-Screening Hub) is a fully integrated facility dedicated to accelerating antiviral therapeutic discovery for SARS-CoV-2 and other high consequence viruses.
  • iCAIRD, the Industrial Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research in Digital Diagnostics, is a finalist in the ‘Multiparty Collaboration’ category. The University of Glasgow is one of the founding partners of iCAIRD, which comprises of 15 partners from across industry, NHS & four Scottish Universities. With twin tracks in radiology and pathology, iCAIRD’s programme of work is establishing the infrastructure & environment required to support development, validation & deployment of AI technologies for use in healthcare.
