This year the University of Glasgow Aberdeen Club, one of the oldest UofG alumni associations, celebrated their annual dinner on 4 November at the Royal Northern University Club, with around 40 alumni and guests in attendance.

Members and guests heard from former Chief Executive of the Law Society and Glasgow graduate, Douglas Mill, alumna Moira Marshall, and Dr Steven Reid, Senior Lecturer at the University, who spoke on his research into how we remember Mary Queen of Scots.

The President of the Aberdeen Club, Sheriff Douglas Cusine, also presented a cheque for £600 to Dr Reid in support of the University’s Student Hardship Fund, fundraised by members of the club. This donation will directly support students facing significant challenges as a result of current financial pressures.

The event was supported by the UofG Alumni Office with Kate Carlin attending her first Club dinner as Alumni Manager. It was a welcome opportunity for Kate to meet with so many warm alumni from the Aberdeen area.

New members to the Aberdeen Club are always welcome. If you are based in the Aberdeen area and interested in joining, please contact Club Secretary Evelyn Dobson at evelyndobson8@gmail.com
